So how much does Homeschooling cost? I hear this question often and it’s a tricky one. Homeschooling can be free or homeschooling can cost a lot of money. But…..If you do your homework, have internet access and a printer, and are willing to use your public library, then you can homeschool for very little out-of-pocket expenses. In addition, you must have the time and desire to put a program together for your kids.
Some parents just aren’t up for planning a whole curriculum for their children. If that’s you but you still want to homeschool for free…..consider an online homeschool options. For the most part, these programs are free because they are state funded. Online schools are similar to independent study programs. The school provides the textbooks and assignments and the student completes the assignments. Some online schools provide a loaner computer and/or internet access. This is definitley a a school-at-home approach using primarily textbooks and the student usually recieves teacher support online for assignments. Online homeschooling is good for some older students but I would hesitiate to put a younger student on the computer for the majority of their education.
